When I was a kid I used to think freedom is when you get to do whatever you want to do, whenever you wanted to do it. But as a born-again Christian, I feel that I understand the real meaning behind the word. Freedom is knowing that you are free from doing what you want to do and free to do what you should do. Freedom is a choice. It’s a choice given from our Lord Jesus. He chose the cross so we could have the choice to choose freedom or death. What will you choose?
I wrote this for a creative expression project showing what my time with Jesus in Discipleship Training School taught me and meant to me. As I was writing this, I felt as if the words were coming from my Abba’s mouth. He was talking to me, expressing His love and plans He made for me.
I made you
I saved you
You are new
Here is my plan, listen and trust me, for this is true
YWAMKC is a good start
It’s where I will reveal my heart
I love you, I want you to know
So hold onto this beautiful fact and continue to grow
You’re beautiful, bold, and courageous
That’s what I wrote down in your pages
before I created you in your Mother’s womb
You thought you were a mistake
No lil’ girl, open your eyes, awake
Don’t trust these lies the devil’s feeding you
I created you for much more, you were made to bloom
Time has gone by and I can see you’ve grown
The growth in you has really shown
You’ve found the key to my heart, it’s spending time with me and not apart
And applying my words to your life, this also is true
Giving me all of you is what you continue to do
Keep on trusting me my Daughter
and soon you’ll see
You are more than what you thought you could be
When times are hard, have faith that you’re not alone
Choose joy in the midst of your pains and your groans
Your prayers, you know, are being heard, for they are never far from my ears
Many times I’ve cried with you and wiped away those tears
Daughter, life isn’t easy, I’ve told you in my Word
But hold onto the hope you have and the truth that you’ve heard
I will never leave you or forsake you
Neither abandon or hide to tease you
I’m right here, beside you, holding your hand to guide you
I’ve always been and will always be your Father and Bestfriend
The Himalayas! It was beautiful and full of the most kindest, caring, hospitable people I have ever met. My team was blessed to have visited this lovely, small country in the Middle East. I honestly didn’t know much about it other than that people wanted to go back to visit. So when I got there, I saw what the big buzz was all about. I loved it and being back in the states, I miss it so much. Going there changed my life. He brought me to the Himalayas to open my eyes to 2 very basic, yet important facts that I needed to grasp. One, He brought me there to learn more about who He is and who I am in Him. And two, He taught me that His love is unconditional and He continues to teach me to have that unconditional love for others as well. He has called me to a higher calling than I had for myself and challenges me to practice what I preach. I loved every second I had in the Himalayas and I would go back in a heart-beat.
What is faith?
According to the Bible, Hebrews 11:1 says that it is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance of what we do not see.
But what does that mean to you?
I believe it means to trust Him regardless of what we see and don’t see. To proclaim what we don’t see to be the truth of what is happening in our current circumstances. For example, if you don’t have the money to pay for your bills, your eyes would be focused on the fact that you will be behind on paying the bills and/or the electricity will be turned off, the water will be stopped, you won’t have heat or a/c, and many other terrifying thoughts you can associate with bills. But with Faith, your eyes will see the money coming in, whether by your works wages, a friend paying you back for borrowing money, or even just a random check that comes in the mail. Whatever it is, the best way to show faith is to believe that your bills are already paid for, to declare over yourself that you are lacking in nothing. That God is your provider and He’s given you all you need.
I know it’s easier said than done. But I also know that it’s the truth. In 2 Peter 1:3, Peter tells us that, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” And also in Romans 8:28, in all things He works for the good of those that love Him. Another verse says that the birds in the sky don’t sow or reap and still He feeds them, so are you not much more valuable than them?
So my question to you is, do you have faith?
Lately as I am praying to God about this vision and dream He has for me, He has been revealing so much I wouldn’t know where to begin. He has been faithful through and through. I have asked countless times what to do, what to say and where to go to get the help I need financially for the Disciple program coming in July. He has revealed for me to depend on Him and trust Him, to stop doing the work myself. He has said countless times that He is powerful and can do anything. He said that HE is the one with the power, not me. Ouch! That hurt to hear, but He knows that I need the truth. I know it, but I didn’t trust it. God is so good! Just wanted to share this with you all. Keep persevering in your faith and giving your best in your relationship with our Father. He doesn’t fail and never will- it’s not in His nature. YOu are loved!
Dear God, I’m sorry I haven’t been making time to talk to you lately. You know my Aunt just passed, I know she went to be with you Father. Could you please tell her that I miss her and I am sorry for not being the niece she deserved. I’m sorry that I didn’t take time out of my daily schedule to visit her and my Uncle and cousins, even when they got a new house. Tell her I’m sorry that I didn’t get to talk to her before she left us. Tell her I’m sorry that I never told her I appreciated her and I love her. Lord as I’m writing this letter to you, you see me and you know my heart, so please pass on these words to her. Thank you for blessing me with her in my life. Help me to grasp the truth that life is short here on earth, that we must live each day like it was our very last. Lord, I ask that you please help me to acknowledge and remember this. Thank you for reading this and listening to me always. Give my Aunt Malee a big hug for me, please. Thank you. And thank you for forgiving me Father. By the way, Your Son is so cool. I just love saying His name in my prayers. I think it’s a pretty awesome name as well, Jesus. Anyways, thanks for this life and thanks for giving my Aunt Malee breath and her life here on earth as well. I know you got her, so I won’t worry anymore. Talk to you soon Lord,
love your Daughter, Latisha.
P.S. I wonder if you were to give me another name (here on earth), what would it be?! Til next time 🙂
As I’m looking online at missionary websites, I came across gfa.org, which stands for Gospel for Asia. An Indian pastor, Brother KP, runs this large christian ministry. I looked up their prayer requests and found one that really touched my heart. They are called, “Gospel for Asia’s Leprosy Ministry”. This link was next to a caption that said,”Pray for the missionaries” in regards to the leprosy ministry- See what everyday ministry looks like for a group of women missionaries serving in one leprosy colony. I clicked on it out of curiosity and my heart felt a sharp pain as I looked at the pictures of what these woman considered lepers have to go through daily. Tears started falling down my cheeks as I read the captions that went along with the pictures. Due to the disease, some have lost their hands, have been neglected and viewed as unlovable. It hurts to read and see the life the lepers have to live through, but what I also see brings me joy and comfort. The missionary women proved to me that God is still in control and will always be working for and through His people. He sent those ladies to the lepers to be his hands and feet. He brought them there to love them, to give them the hope that they thought they would never have. God loves all of His children, He is always faithful to them. I am blessed that I got to get a glimpse of what missionary is about and be given the chance to pray for them. I know that God loves His people and He will always come to their aid. I pray this gave you hope and encouraged you to pray for those that don’t know Christ, as well as pray for the lost and the hurting in Asia. God bless you and remember, you are loved!
